The unique story behind the 'Sunshine and Roses' CD

THE PHONE CALL FROM DR MALCOLM BEAZLEY AM

In January 2013 Dr Malcolm Beazley heard on radio an ad promoting the music of John Sidney whilst streaming Golden Days Radio (3GDR) on his office computer .

Malcolm responded by purchasing the boxed set of John Sidney's piano music CD collection.

Malcolm was delighted to hear John Sidney's piano talented piano playing and phoned Graeme Pope, the man behind John Sidney's music, to express his appreciation.

A SPECIAL REQUEST

During the conversation with Graeme Dr Beazley mentioned that he was delegated the task of producing a CD for  the Friends Of Old Parliment House Rose Gardens. The purpose CD was to help raise funds to promote the old parliment rose gardens.

Dr Beazley expressed how he had no idea how to go about it and after quizzing Graeme about the process required to produce a CD Graeme offered to help the 'Friends' produce their first CD.

THE COMPILATION

The songs on the Sunshine and Roses CD are a selection of early 1900's performances about roses compiled by Dr David Rentz.

THE LAUNCH

By special request, Carol Brett from Spinnaker Media (former managing editor for Better Homes and Gardens magazine) was invited to launch the Sunshine and Roses CD in Canberra on Valentine's Day 14th February 2013.
